Custom date field problem

I try to use a custom date field for my calendar. I have a calendar in my view but with the creation date field. In the settings,I choose Use a custom date field and I select my date field but when I choose to apply, nothing happen.. no message. I have to select cancel to close the Style options window.

Why?
