All media provider modules (oEmbed, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, etc) will eventually be ported to Drupal 8, however, as they all depend on the entire Media ecosystem (Media Internet, Media, File Entity) it won't be possible to port them any time soon.

Marking this as fixed for now and will reopen when it's possible to port Media: Vimeo to Drupal 8.
