Hello Drupal community,
Sorry if this has been posted before but I need some help. The University I work for is planning on upgrading our main site from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. In the plan we have outlined we would like to move the news section of the site to our new stand alone Drupal 7 box(configured for multisite) that we have for other people on campus, so they can post their own content. On this new box I have a clean install of D7 and a sub site for the news. The problem I'm running into is that the news on our D6 box is a CCK type and the D6 and D7 sites are two different databases. So my question is how do I move over 13 years worth of news without upgrading the D6 site first?
Notes:

  • Main site is on a different server box than the new news sub site
  • Main site and sub site are two different databases
  • Want to move only the news part of the main site over to the stand alone D7 box without upgrading the main site to D7 first
  • News section of site is a D6 CCK type

I'm in a similar position, and planning to use the migrate module (see migrate_d2d), but you can also use the feeds module.
