Reliance on $nid breaks for non-node File Fields (e.g. profile2)

Module fails when using it to manage file fields in non-nodes.
I'm trying to use it with Profile2 and while it successfully removes the "Remove" button, it does not obey permissions and the "Delete Contents" link appears to rely on $nid (which does not exist for profile2 entities).
