Attach Attachment to Attachment

has anyone ever tried to attach a attachment to a attachment. Having the need to create a nested view I would love to avoid writing a template or using https://drupal.org/project/views_field_view. But nesting attchments seems not to work (what a disappointment :-( ). Does anyone have a idea, if there is a module or a other solution? Any help would be great.
