Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
In D7 image styles could have been added via hook so they were un-deletable whic hwas a good thing because you could be sure that the image style you were using in your code would be available.
In D8 image styles are config entities and I have not been able to found any time of lock that would prevent users from deleting certain styles.
Is this a big or the support for "locking" styles against deletion was purposely dropped?

BerdirYou can always use hook_image_style_access() and prevent delete access based on something, that's basically what those do that have a locked property.
