I'm not very familiar with how our potx integration for YAML files at the root level of a module (not config) works. But the comment in #2295469-3: Add support for static permission definitions with *.permissions.yml implies that it's customized for every core-defined YAML "type". What does that then mean for contrib: can a contrib module define its own registration YAML file type, and if so, how does our potx system find what's translatable in it? Would it make sense to abstract (parts of) our config schema system to cover non-config YAML?

dawehnerAt least for potx there is a way to define those yml files: http://cgit.drupalcode.org/potx/tree/tests/potx_test_8/yaml_translation_...
