I installed a new Drupal site over the weekend and was successfully playing with it. I then installed the Gallery2 integration module and Gallery2 beta 4 (in that order, which may have been backwards).

Gallery2 installation went smoothly, and the gallery was working (it was there, with no error messages, but I didn't actually get a chance to use it).

Next, I went to the settings for the integration module and clicked some things. When I clicked save, I got an error message. Sorry, I can't remember what it was. I tried it again, and got error messages.

Eventually, when I tried to go to my home page, I got a long error message that is beyond me. The biggest problem is that that is ALL I get... an error message. There is no Drupal site, no log-in, no nothing.

I don't understand the error message, and I don't have a clue how to get into Drupal to try to correct this. The only thing I have done since was go to my host control panel (Bluehost), and "check" the SQL databases. The Drupal database had a bunch of errors at first, with lots of lines saying users (from 1-4) where signed in, or had not closed tables properly. I ran the check a second time, and everything said "OK".

So far, the forums and FAQ have turned up all the answers I need through search, but this one has put me in a state of shock.

This is the site: http://www.clements.on.ca

Gallery2 is here: http://www.clements.on.ca/gallery2

Finally, for what it is worth, I had a photo album already on the web that is unrelated to either Drupal or Gallery2. After this happened, if I try to go to it, I get a "403 Permission Denied" error, and the icon in the Firefox address bar is a Drupal logo. The album is located here:

Thanks in advance for any help you care to offer.

Drupal version is 4.6.2, installed via Fantastico to the root of my web site.

Gallery2 is installed in a subfolder called "gallery2".

Perhaps something in the gallery2 htaccess file is messing things up or overwrote Drupal's htaccess file.

With some excellent help from Kitt, I found that the Gallery2 integration module was the culprit. Deleting the folder with this module made the problem vanish.

Unfortunately, I then went on to discover that a simple task of putting pictures with articles is like training seals to jump through hoops. It can be done, but you pretty much need to have "seal training" skills.

(For the record, after removing the integration module, I had a working copy of both Drupal and Gallery2.)

I installed gallery2 (beta4) this morning, and the gallery.module immediately after.

Gallery2 is working fine and I had some fun adding a few images.

But the module craps all over the place. I took a look at the open issues for gallery.module and saw reports from others about failures just like I am seeing.

To recover my site I went into the database and ran this command:

update blocks set status = 0 where module = 'gallery';

This disables the gallery related blocks, which makes the failure symptom go away and I can use my site again.

The "training seals to jump through hoops" comment concerns me - because I'm looking for a solution that will be easy to use for a group of technology-challenged people. That is, simple and easy to use is highly desired for my audience.

Gallery has had a bunch of updates recently and the module hasn't kept up. Walkah is working on it, but he went on vacation and I don't know when he will be back. Hopefully he'll have an updated module soon.

Klementz - please help me set up my DruPal on my BlueHost account. I can give you ftp access rights. I am new and having trouble with the first steps of setting up MYSQL database. It would be great if you could set me up real quick since you are fresh.
Please advise.
Thank you ,

You're responding to a 3 month old post... Don't be surprised if he doesn't see it. Also, a personal request like that really puts people on the spot. If you need help, you're better off starting your own post with a general request.

Michelle - Can you help me? I will do as you sugguest and put it in a new thread. I really am stuck here. Not a programmer at all. I just do graphics. I find it ironic that Drupal sites turn out so simple w/ 12+ hrs of set up time. What I realized is the Drupal sites are much more automated and have powerful applications then a typical photoshop web site. How confortable are you installing Drupal?

I'm confortable installing Drupal but, as you can see by me taking 3 days to respond, I don't have much time. I'm pretty swamped with things to do right now and have been taking a bit of a break from website work. I hope you found someone to help on your new thread. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
