What is happening with Russian translation for Drupal6? [#277602]

Drupal.ru has a download for drupal 6.2 but no translation.
Drupal.kiev1.org has a site but no info on translation progress.
There are comments here about somebody working on drupal5 but how long ago was that?
I'm amazed that Hungarian and Romanian have translations, but Russian doesn't!

Russian translation for Drupal 6 exists, but all works around it centralized at http://drupaler.ru. We will refresh files on drupal.org/project/ru and put link on drupal.ru mainpage too.

Sorry, but I still don't see any new files on the drupal.org project page. I glanced at drupaler.ru and didn't see where to download from (I can't read a lick of Russian :-). Keep in mind, translations are important for people who don't speak a language too! I want to allow members of a Russian-speaking sister community to browse my site and have a couple bilingual members of their group translate local strings for their non-English-speaking friends. So, you see, it should be possible for me to not have to learn Russian in order to do this, if only there were translations for the 6.x core and popular modules such as CCK and Views. And if only they were posted somewhere in English! :-)

Russian is one of the "major" languages in general, but particularly for our community, which has a large proportion of non-native English speakers. The ones who can't read/write English at all have to stay on their own site and cannot contribute even language-independent things like pictures they drew or code they wrote. This no doubt happens to other communities across the Internet. Therefore, the importance of a Russian translation for software that is used to build communities cannot be overstated.
