This issue is for tracking progress and problems with the UKRAINIAN screenshots.

Tasks and their status (unmarked tasks are assumed not to be done yet):

  1. Ensure that most of the current version's user interface has been translated into UKRAINIAN, so that the screenshots will show very little if any English on them.
  2. Translate the "scenario text" into UKRAINIAN. The text to be translated is the "Scenario Text" section of the scripts/TermsToTranslate.fods spreadsheet. What is needed is a 3-column sheet with these columns:
    • Context (the column called Context in the TermsTo Translate sheet)
    • English text
    • Your language text
  3. Make initial automated screenshots. Procedure: See auto_screenshots/README.txt.
  4. Make initial non-automated screenshots. See the source/en/images/README.txt file for details of which images need to be made.
  5. Check each screenshot to make sure it is all in the target language and is readable. The UKRAINIAN language team will do this as they translate each topic. If problems are found, add tasks here so that the screenshots can be updated. Leave this issue open until all the topics have been translated and the screenshots checked and/or updated.

When you do step 2 (translating the scenario text), please attach the spreadsheet here. Then I will do step 3 (make the automated screenshots), and replace the automated English screenshots with Ukranian ones in the source/uk/images directory.

Your team will also need to do step 4 (non-automated screenshots), and commit them to the Git repository, replacing the English images that are already there.

Just following up here... When the Ukranian team takes care of #2, I can make screenshots for most of the User Guide for you. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your care, appreciate it

PS. We've created a bunch of video about User Guide in Ukrainian due to Kyiv 2017 Global Training Days, so looks like User Guide in Ukrainian is going to be an awesome because of these

Sorry for the overly long delay! I have finally made a commit to the User Guide Tests project, to add your translations from #6 to a new test class. I will now trigger the tests to run, which will generate screenshots for Ukranian. Then I'll make sure they look OK, and come back to this project to add them to the Ukranian User Guide, so that you can finally have non-English screenshots. That should be done later today; I'll comment here.

If you haven't done so already, you'll also sometime need to make a few screenshots manually, which can't be made by the automated process (mostly it's the screenshots of the manual installation process). See
source/en/images/README.txt
for a list of the images you'll need to make, and you can commit them directly to source/uk/images when you're done.

Turns out there was one bug in the spreadsheet -- apparently the two-letter country code for Ukraine is UA not UK (the site_default_country variable). Fixing that; launching tests again...

The tests are running now, but there is one problem with the screenshots. There is one that shows what the Carrots taxonomy page looks like. Here's what it is in English:
Taxonomy listing page screenshot

But it isn't coming out correctly in Ukranian, because of a text mismatch. In this file, you have the word "Carrots" translated 3 different ways:

recipe_field_ingredients_term_4 Carrots Морква
recipe_1_ingredients Carrots Моркви
recipe_2_ingredients Carrots Морквини

So in the test script, when it generates the Recipe content items, they are making new taxonomy terms instead of matching taxonomy term 4.

I don't speak Ukranian, but these look like different forms of the same base word from what I know of Russian (somewhat similar language)... I am not sure which form we want to use for the taxonomy term and the ingredients, but they all need to be the same form. Please let me know which one to use, and I'll make the screenshots.

Thanks!

Hello @jhodgdon. Thanks for your help in creating screenshots and sorry for confusion.
Please use Морква word for all 3 cases you wrote.
i.e.
recipe_field_ingredients_term_4 Carrots Морква
recipe_1_ingredients Carrots Морква
recipe_2_ingredients Carrots Морква

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification! I've updated the test script and launched the test again; I'll be busy the rest of today, but I should have time to update the screenshots and finally save them to the User Guide on Monday, hopefully.

The automatically-generated images look good now! I've committed them to the User Guide for Ukranian. I'm leaving this issue open though, because you'll still need to create the manual images. See source/en/images/README.txt for a list of the images to create, then commit them and mark this issue Fixed.

I've committed manual images listed in README.txt. This issue can be marked as fixed. @jhodgdon thanks for help.
