This post is to ask if D is suitable to my needs and what module etc I need to use to accomplish my needs. I am new to D so I am not familiar with all the options etc.

1) My site requires an admin to be able to post latest news style articles. The page can only have a maximum of 12 posts. Each page needs to have a title field, an fckeditor or the like, and the ability to add a row of thumbnails (3) that match predetermined template look and feel. The thumbnails need to link to full versions of the picture (pop up if possible). The ability to add a row of pics in optional for the page. I need several pages like this.

2) A static page with the option to add up to four title/links set in a predefined location. The page displays the title if exists and a link if exists.

3) A photo gallery.

If someone could tell me what area of drupal to use for each and give a little direction that would be much appreaciate and really help to get me started.

I also have these few questions if you wouldnt mind.
1) Is Gallery 2 and Drupal (and things like forums) hooked together with single sign on?
2) Do modules like article and or user registration allow the addition of new form fields?
3) Are these form fields able to be set up with custom field validation?

I think that is it. Thanks for your time. I will start reading all of the docs.

Its no problem if something is not possible or if its required to do some coding. Please let me know either way.

Thank you.

1/ fckeditor:
I installed fckeditor in a Drupal site in about 15 minutes. I decided fckeditor was not what I wanted and then deleted it in about 15 seconds. TinyMCE and other editors can also be installed. I have not yet tried them.

2) Static pages are discussed all over Drupal.org. Pages build from nodes. You can promote a node to the front page and have it sit at the top of the front page. There are modules for building structures of static pages. I use module menu to build a menu of static pages. The Drupal taxonomy system lets you do far more and takes a while to learn. Based on your description, you do not need to start with taxonomy.

3) I just looked at http://www.ericscouten.com/. Nice pictures. That blonde on the front page is beautiful. Bit of an animal but has lovely hair.

I do not know what modules the developer installed. There is support for Gallery. Gallery is being updated to release 2 and the Drupal support for Gallery2 is being updated as Gallery2 goes through various beta releases.

There is a module to make custom forms easier. There is a module for surveys. If you use both, you can have a custom form where the data entered is recorded in the database for later review.

Drupal does everything you want. You could experiment with 4.6.3 now. In October you will be able to use Drupal 4.7.0 with a couple of enhancements in the menu and taxonomy areas. The Gallery2 support depends entirely on the developers of Galley 2.

Peter, there's a discussion of the modules I used on my site at http://drupal.org/node/21942. Hope this helps...
