Rachel, UK. The bike’s traction control saved my embarrassment on Sunday in a little gravel outside Sandringham House. Thanks BMW!

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
Present. I suppose it would be in an automated phone call tree (have had a lot of those lately)

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
Think we might miss a few today - lots going on

:one: *How are we with choosing QA tools?*

:two: *This isn’t just about rebuilding what we had before*: So, I have raised an issue around the Getting Involved Guide being a location to store and "advertise" all the roles that make the community - please take a look!
#3089403: Create content types for a new Getting Involved section

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
So, this is the thing that I wan to make happen - have one place where it is possible to collectively understand what on earth we all do!

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
I think we need more than just this one entry point to Getting Involved. Roles are good, but to someone new to the project, they may sound more long-term-ish. I think we also should have entry points for people to look for Tasks and Skills (which would link to Roles, but provide another entry point).

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
The implementation details should really be up for an engineering team to establish but my aim is to have a whole bunch of skills etc that are reusable across roles.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
And yeah - I’m only seeing this as one part of the guide!

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
So for instance, I might get to Getting Involved and search by PHP coding as a skill, or English Writing, or Translating. I would get to a skill page, which would show me all the Roles and Tasks that use that skill or that if I fulfilled them, would develop that skill.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
Definitely NOT a substitute index/toc

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
yeah - that would be helpful, right?

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
but not the only way to browse the Guide

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
Then another person might be ready to take on a Role, so they would go to the Roles library and filter by time commitment and skills needed, and find some Roles.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
just to be clear

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
And maybe find some example people doing those roles?

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
ooooh - and we could show roles on profiles!

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
Then another person might want to look for just a task to occupy a few hours, so they go to the Task library and filter by skills and time needed, and find some tasks.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
exactly

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
ok

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
And roles could be very shortlived

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
I'm for the Roles library if we also have (linked) Tasks and Skills libraries. :)

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
yes!

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
But it is also about setting expectations - so people don’t take things on that burn them out

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
I really think all of this might be helped by making a mockup implementation...

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
yeah - I was thinking same. Maybe that’s the next step?

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
probably is.

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
looks like the meeting is just you and me today.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
take the mock screenshot into a live demo?

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
That can happen sometimes

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
we can do one better and make some content types on a d.o dev site.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
yes.

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
with fields and everything.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
I will ask for one

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
ok I can help/do site building (content types, views, etc.)

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
that is what I do/did for a living :)

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
(mostly retired)

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
yay!

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
I think we have a next step.

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
OK, ping me or post on the issue when we have a dev site. Once that is set up, I will kick into action. By the way, normally when I have wanted a dev site in the past I have done it via an issue. There's a process: https://www.drupal.org/drupalorg/docs/build/development-environments/developing-on-our-server

:three: *It is DrupalCon Amsterdam 2019 next week*: Who is there and what can we achieve - should we create a BoF?

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
I’m there, obviously. A BoF on Wednesday would be fab for me

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
I am only attending in spirit.

Rachel Lawson 3 days ago
It’s a strong spirit

Jennifer Hodgdon 3 days ago
:)

:four: *Anything Else?*: What else do we need to talk about?

That’s all for now!

The discussions continue in the threads! Please feel free to chime in within the next 24 hours to be captured in the meeting notes. Thank you very much to everyone for attending, learning, and contributing!
