Take a peak!

I am currently working on an outdoor service and adventure club. I have incorporated Frontpage Slideshow by joomla works. is there any way a module for drupal could be written to harness this tool easily?

Drupal is awesome!

Will there be a version for drupal 6.0?

I am the creator of the FPSS Drupal Module. I am currently reworking it to fix some bugs and trying to make it as user friendly as possible. When 5 is finessed, I will move on to port it to 6, but until it is finished in 5, I don't see the point of having 2 modules on the go.

Excellent work Jame T and thanks.

What are the other improvements do you plan to make? will there be the ability to use Views with this module?

The improvements I have done (available to download at http://code.google.com/p/fpss-drupal/) are the ability to set where the javascript gets put and you can type the language settings directly into Drupal rather than using the language files included with FPSS.

What sort of views implementation would you want?

that would make it easy to generate a show - kind of like views slideshow (using 'slideshow' as a presentation type) - or perhaps a way to use views to call a nodequeue into this (fpss) - setting it as a presentation type would make this possible, with some simple selection options...

I will have a look in to but have not had any experience of coding a module for Views, purely front end stuff.

Taking in your first idea of using slideshow as a presentation type, I don't know how you would go about filling in the extra fields that FPSS has. You have title, tagline, category, slidetext and the image.

If you were to set up your view for all nodes within a vocabulary that is a story then you could easily get the title and slidetext, but I don't see where else you could get the rest of the data including the image, unless you did a check to make sure there was an image attached to it.

I think Joomlaworks are actually creating some scripts to get FPSS to work in Drupal and Wordpress properly so it would be interesting to see how they do it.

Just some way of pulling in teaser contents from other nodes or even blocks (like how quick tabs does it)?

Also, never understood why there is 'category'? perhaps add a way to disable certain fields if required?

thanks,

The problem is different templates use different bits of text. I could make it quite easily if I took out tagline and category and used the title and teaser text but this wouldn't work on all templates.

That's a good point, so perhaps offer a simple template that will hook into views and leave the rest as is.

Off topic, how come the module is not on Drupal's project page?

All the SVN stuff just looks too complicated for me. When I get some time I may look over it again.

Try views slidshow, http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow has drupal 6.0x support.

using it now (views slideshow) for some blocks - it's very easy to set up and very nice, though not nearly as robust as fpss
