Agenda

:drupal-mentoring: :drupal-mentoring: :drupal-mentoring:
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Drupal Core Mentoring Meta Meeting! :calendar: This meeting:
➤ Usually happens on the second Wednesday of the month, or as needed for events.
➤ is text only!
➤ happens in threads, which you can follow to be notified of new replies even if you don’t comment in the thread. You may also join the meeting later and participate asynchronously.
➤ refers to various issues and plans tracking in the mentoring project on d.o: https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/mentoring
➤ :star: Please comment on the meeting agenda https://www.drupal.org/project/mentoring/issues/3313686 so we can grant you credit for attending/contributing!

:zero: Roll Call! Who’s here today? Comment in a thread here to introduce yourself, include your drupal.org name, and if you're up to it, what is one thing that brings you joy in October?

:one: DrupalCon Prague 2022 planning: https://events.drupal.org/prague2022 (issue tag: Prague2022). Thank you to all the mentors who attended both in-person and virtually.

:one: :one: Retrospective thread.
cindytwilliams: When we triaged issues, we put a comment on them to hold for Prague, but people worked on them anyway. Maybe we need more clear wording.
AmyJune (volkswagenchick): we need not have many folks attend orientation or triage (4 in triage)
gregg_marshall: I liked the idea of doing C19 testing that morning, something we should probably do at all mentored events given mentors tend to work in close quarters with mentees.

:one: :two: Tasks that need to be done after the event:
- Mentor supplies needed for the next contribution event in Europe?
- Issue and issue credits?
gregg_marshall: I assume make sure the name tags and marker supplies will need some replenishing.

:two: Mentoring opportunities. Share your mentor or mentor-related opportunities such as an upcoming virtual or in-person contribution event or speaking opportunity in this thread.
vonreyes: this is a little premature, but happy to start having preliminary convos about mentoring at pittsburgh if y’all feel ready! i had my internal timeline to start planning more in the new year but my door is open if you like.
mradcliffe: Definitely. If you have any time-sensitive tasks like mentor scholarship or planning/organizing lead deadlines, then we can try to start working on those.
Kristen Pol (she/her): I am tentatively planning on attending though it will depend on the state of Covid at the time… I should know a month ahead of time based on graphs/trends

:two: :one: Looking for mentors for mid-November Drupal 10 Global Porting Day(s).
mradcliffe: I think this is going to be 11/18, 11/19 and 11/20 based on the recent #contribution-events meeting notes.
Kristen Pol (she/her): Yes… just need to fine tune the start and end times

:two: :two: DrupalCon Pittsburgh 2023 session proposals due Monday, 17 October at 23:59 UTC. What mentoring, contribution or mentoring-adjacent session are you proposing or have ideas for anyone that would like to speak? What mentoring, contribution or mentoring-adjacent session would you like to learn or collaborate on with a mentor?
mradcliffe: I have an idea, but I don't think I have time to prepare. Looking into statistics regarding Novice/GFI -> task completion/commit times as compared to GitHub projects.
vonreyes: just wanted to share some hopefully helpful context for CFS and mentorship:

it’s totally okay if the session isn’t fully developed to submit. the main things are the speaker profile, the overall learning objectives, difficulty level, and target audience. speakers can provide more detailed information and revise slides, etc. all the way up until we print the program
CFS is an offer of thought leadership, and we def don’t expect you to have every detail nailed down
we’re going to do the same as last year with BoFs, where we’ll open submissions for those in the new year if any mentor sessions would function better as a BoF
there is also an opportunity to talk about mentoring topics at the community summit
if anyone wants to chat about your session submission and see if it’s robust enough for review i’m more than happy to connect if it is helpful!
mradcliffe: Thank you.
Kristen Pol (she/her): “How not to game the contribution issue credit system” ;)

:three: Open floor/other topics. Please start a new thread.

:four: Pittsburgh 2023 preliminary conversations
mradcliffe: Here's a thread for this.
mradcliffe: I am planning on attending and being available to mentor at Pittsburgh since I live regionally nearby.
mradcliffe: I think that as a goal, getting updated stickers would be great, but we haven't finalized anything.
vonreyes: do you all usually design and print these stickers yourselves, or would you like us to do that on the DA side? or some combination/division of labor?
vonreyes: the only tasks i have outlined right now are:

:five: That's it for now! Continue the conversation in the threads above and in issues. Remember to post in the meeting issue or in the roll call thread! And volunteer!!!!

:six: Kristen Pol (she/her): We have just been approved by the Open Collective Foundation for a “Drupal Contribution” collective… more details to come in the coming weeks
