Hi
I just installed Drupal on my computer and tried it out.
As usual, i created the admin account and changed the password.
however, when i clicked the logout, it doesn't actually log out. i mean i can still do the admin function such as adminster, .....
when i checked the log, it shows "session closed for admin"...
is there anything wrong with my installation or configuration...
i haven't touched any config files...
Please help.....
thanks

Browser problem
More than likely a browser problem, what are you using? Try clearing out the cookies and the cache. Are you *sure* that it's not just that your browser isn't displaying whats in its cache because the web address is the same? Did you click 'reload' or 'refresh' to see if it became correct? Can you actually use the admin functions (not just click on them) after you've clicked log out?

Had same problem, patched to fix
Running 4.5.5, I had the same problem, in Firefox and in I.E. for Windows. No users could log off. The log out link appeared completely nonfunctional, except that the log recorded a logout - the page reloaded, but I was still logged in (even after a manual refresh) and could perform all restricted functions still.
I found the post at http://drupal.org/node/29379, patched my copy of session.inc and now it works most goodly.

Thanks a lot man.....
Similar problem, even with fix
I have a similar problem. I can log out as admin, but when I'm loggin after that with a non-admin-account this turns into admin after the first action I do.
Example:
- Log in as "User".
- In Menu choose "Create content". Drupal correctly offers the node types this user may create.
- Now choose e.g. "story"
- Drupal offers all input formats, even the ones not allowed for this user
- After a page reload. Drupal shows "admin" as user name on navigation menu and offers full access
I tried shutting down the browser completly, deleting cookies by hand and deleting everything in the session table. However, the problem remained.
System: Drupal 4.6.3, Firefox, Apache 2, Windows
Update: Fixed, it was my own debug code I placed a week ago and totally forgot. Silly me :-(
