The Job Search module provides your sites visitors to browse and search jobs, or post their resumes for employers/recruiters to see. It also allows job seekers to apply for jobs. In effect, your site can be a mini monster.com or hotjobs.com.

This handbook page is meant to help end users get this module up and running as fast as possible.

Although this module, can function by itself, you can really maximise its potential by also installing the following modules to expands your site's capabilities:

  • CCK - to create your custom job and resume node types
  • Views - to can present the jobs in various ways to the users, with drop down selectable lists.
  • Location - to setup proximity searches for jobs by zip code, city, or jobs within 25 miles of zip code 90210.
  • Scheduler - to have job postings and/or resumes expire after a preset period
  • User Points - to haver users pay for posting jobs or resumes
  • Ecommerce with EC Role - to have users buy the employer/recruiter role so they are able to post jobs

Installation

Please see the README.tx that comes with the module for installation steps.

Configuration

After you install this module, follow these steps to configure it:

  1. You must create a new content type for Jobs and a new content type for Resumes.

    You can create these content types using the CCK module. Add any fields you wish to the content types.

  2. Go to Administer -> Site Configuration -> Job.
    Select which node type(s) would be designated as jobs that can be applied for. NB This can be any node type you created using the CCK module (as in Step 1 above). This screenshot shows what that page looks like:
  3. Go to Administer -> Site Configuration -> Resume.
    Select which node type(s) would be designated as resumes that can be used to apply for jobs. NB This can be any node type you created using the CCK module (as in Step 1 above).
  4. Go to Administer -> User Configuration -> Roles.
    Create roles for the job seekers, and the recruiter/employer.
  5. Go to Administer -> User Configuration -> Access Control.
    Assign view jobs to the recruiter/employer role, and apply for jobs to the job seeker role. Also assign view resumes to the recruiter/employer role.
  6. If you are using the job access and resume access modules, you have to set the permissions correctly.
    Visit Administer -> Content Management -> Post settings and click on "Rebuild Permissions".
