I'm new to Drupal and am trying to setup suckerfish menus in my site.
I followed several sets of instructions on the ThemeSettingsAPI Module Download Site and the Newsflash Theme Download Site and believe I have everything installed correctly. I can enable the ThemeSettingsAPI module and Newflash Theme with no issues, however, when I create a Menu and Menu Item (with the expanded box checked) and then go to Blocks and attempt to select Suckerfish in the drop down menu it isn't even available. Also, I noticed that I only have the option to make basic changes in my Theme Settings (doesn't have an option to enable suckerfish).

It's my guess that for some reason the ThemeSettingsAPI module isn't loading even if the box is checked.

Drupal 6.8 with ThemeSettingsAPI 6.x-1.4 Module and Newsflash Theme (but having same problems with all themes).

I hope I'm in the right place for this question, please help.

Thanks,
Mark

After enabling the ThemeSettingsAPI module did you run the update.php?

That might work, or you could try to clear the cache. I just tested this out and it seems to be working for me just fine.

@tallmark515

1) You don't need the Theme Settings API module if you're running Drupal 6 (I've never installed the D6 version of Theme Settings API module so I don't know what it's for).

2) I think you may have clicked on the Configure tab at the top of the themes page instead of the configure link farther down the page in the Newsflash row. That's where you enable suckerfish menus.

Suckerfish menus are working fine for me on my dev site.

Works for me... can you provide any more details?

Title: Suckerfish not working in newsflash - drupal 6.8 » Suckerfish challenges in Newsflash - Drupal 6.10

Suckerfish is enabled in Themes > Configure > Newsflash > Use Suckerfish Menus.

When I go to Blocks > I can see that there are three items assigned to the Suckerfish Menu - Primary Links + a Custom Block + Search Form.

My first challenge is that none of these line up - the Primary Links behaves nicely and is on the left and where I expect it to be, separated by the suckerfish menu line images.

The Custom Block is 3/4 the way over to the right and sits lower than the Primary Links; and the Search Form is under that (right aligned).

[If instead I assign each Menu Item to a different User block (1,2+3), then the Primary Links shows one under the other, bulleted. The Search Form is on two lines as well, and the Custom Block seems to be the same height as each of the first rows of the others.]

My second challenge, is perhaps more to do with this being so totally new to me - how do I make/link a Menu Item to a module. ie I want to be able to use the Petitions Module and Storm Modules.

Ideally there would be a Menu Item for all 'Petitions' and a drop down for Petition 1, Petition 2, and so on. For the Storm module I envisage a Menu Item called Projects, and a drop-down listing the names of the various currently active projects. Any tips please?

Miscellaneous?

I notice in the Block Area that Garland is still an option alongside Newsflash. Even when you go into Garland and set all the Block Items to they still show in Newsflash, in the area relative to where they would have been in Garland. Am I supposed to have removed Garland entirely somewhere?

TIA

The Suckerfish menu is just for menu items. Remove the custom block and the Search Form.

More info in the Newsflash handbook

@ jt_jones

Much appreciated

The handbook is great so far.

I understand how Newsflash/Drupal uses Suckerfish now.

I have also figured that my miscellaneous question can be solved by creating a new menu for the suckerfish area, and setting the primary and secondary links in admin/build/menu/settings to none and selecting the default to be the newly created menu for suckerfish.

I am even more confident that it will answer my second challenge too :)
