I'm sure you'll say this is outside of the scope of this module, but I can try:

I use this module to limit the menu choices per content type. For instance, some content types don't see menus, all others only see the Primary Links menu. I would like to be able to have this control at the level of menu items too. I imagine after enabling the available menus, I would be able to choose what state the menu drop down would be in by default.

This would be useful in the case of having one menu for the whole site, but there being different subsections depending on the content type. Content type "News" starts in the "News Archive" section, content type "Image" starts in the "Image gallery" section, etc.

i won't say it's outside the scope of ctm module, but i have no intention to do this functionality.
one of the goal of this module is riding the (giant) Navigation Menu and its tones of options, from menu settings in content editing.

anyway, maybe with Hierarchical Select will be easier to deal with big menus.

Just want to add that this module doesnt work with hierarchical select menu module, seems it overrides this one.
