I've tried 6.x, 6.1 and 6.2 and I can't seem to make CCK textarea's wysiwyg'd.

I came across this issue: http://drupal.org/node/314678, but I've seen other posts saying that CCK fields should automatically become wysiwyg'd (even options for turning it off using #wysiwyg).

Also what if I create a textarea in a custom form, how would I apply wysiwyg?

Can someone clear this up and maybe put this in the documentation?

For CCK textareas, you need to configure the CCK field to be "Formatted text" (NOT "Plain text") in the field settings.
