For me, it works on the taxonomy pages, but doesn't show up on node pages. Is this how it is a bug, something wrong on my side or by design?

Nevermind... it's on the configuration page. I see that if it is set to show on level 1, it shows on nodes, but if set to show on level 2 or higher, it won't show on nodes unless those nodes are linked to in the menu tree.
