This is fixed in the last dev version. You can choose a module in the messages (admin heartbeat messages) and filter on them in your view. Plz use the heartbeat plugin row style for this.

I still get the feeling people know how to use heartbeat, are not familiar with the rules module.
In general, you build a heartbeat message in that ui, then step over to the admin/rules/trigger section to build/modify a rule. It is only the action in rules that is connected to heartbeat. Please dig into this.
I am describing more step by step documentation at blog.menhir.be. I know this aint the most simple module but the part that is difficult is the part that handles merges and message groups.
Also check the other issues were i gave examples on how to do things.
