Hi, I have had a music news/review etc based website for a while. I decided to move the site from its traditional ASP/Access system (self written) a while ago as I no longer have time to maintain the development of the site.

Initially the first PHP/MySQL system I thought about using was Mambo/Joomla as I have used this in the past when developing a theme for a client. However the whole thing seemed a bit too messy to use for my own site.

Then I found WordPress. I use this for my blog and knew with a few hacks it could be beefed up to make the perfect site CMS for my needs. But theres that problem that its "only" a blog tool.

Drupal seemed like a good idea, I have done the reading, tutorials, FAQs you name it. It all "sounds" great. The sites I see such as www.popmadrid.com are exactly the kind of system I need to convert my site.

But I just cant work it out, its been 2 weeks now and I feel ashamed that as a Web Developer I just dont "get" how this thing works!

My site has sadly died so (www.baconmusic.co.uk) is purely a holding page for now, you can see the google cashe here:
http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:40Bt3v459OsJ:www.baconmusic.co.uk/+b...

Sadly its not CSS styled so its a little flat.

You can see my idea. I have a few "sections", the standard ones: news, reviews, features etc. I also want to add a new "blog" feature so the writers can post some editorials on the new version, also allowing visitors to comment.

Ive tried to make it work, added some categories/taxonomies for "news" and "reviews" but I need "sections" and a menu bar so users can view lists of the categorised content, like in the old version. I cant understand why its not simple to do this in Drupal? It all seemed so easy with WordPress, I even had a small working version on a free host that I use for testing. Maybe thats the problem, I am stuck on a "standard" thinking route and cant get off. Everything in Drupal seems powerfull but its all so backwards when compared to any other system I have used?

If anyone can help please post. I really would like to get this thing working and not have to use Joomla or WordPress.

Do you have a link that we can see what you have so far and some information on what modules you're running etc so if I feel like I can suggest something I'm not telling you something you've already considered? Sadly the Google cache has updated now so I couldn't see your original site....
