kaltura needs crossdomain.xml to work, and a copy is found in the module itself. The 'read me.txt' file advises to put this file in your root drupal installation. This does not work for a sub-domain installation.
I installed the following file in the domain and also in the sub-domain root and kaltura accepted it.

crossdomain dot xml

xml version="1.0"?>
DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM
"http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
cross-domain-policy>
allow-access-from domain="hall.am"/>
allow-access-from domain="www.hall.am"/>
allow-access-from domain="*.kaltura.com"/>
allow-http-request-headers-from domain="hall.am" headers="*"/>
allow-http-request-headers-from domain="www.hall.am" headers="*"/>
allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*.kaltura.com" headers="*"/>
cross-domain-policy>

I also deleted the first line
site-control permitted cross domain policies="master-only"/>
(i removed first set of angle brackets)
