I love the module and think the interface is great, but for one thing; drop down menus.
Is it possible now, or would it be possible in the future to have drop down menus, as they are a much quicker way to navigate?

If you want drop down menus, then you need the nice menus module on:
http://drupal.org/project/nice_menus
I'd also recommend the 'menu settings per content type module' on:
http://drupal.org/project/ctm
It's not really related to your query, but it lets you only show certain menus (e.g. primary links) for certain content types, it means that when you're selecting where a page should go in the menu, you can remove the option to show the 'admin' menu, which saves scrolling past a big list of items that you never need!
All the best,
Martin
