In the view's style settings page, values set in the "Custom time grouping" field are always used, if specified. The options in the "Time grouping" select list imply that these values will only be used if "Custom" is chosen.

This bug seems to be occurring still even though being so old. Is there a fix for this? As a workaround could hide the empty rows but I'm afraid there is no indication for this either (no classes provided).

FYI for anyone else looking workarounds I ended up writing a small code in one of the calendar templates that removes rows with no entries in them.
