I'm wondering how many other modules might benefit from a generalised solution of menu weighting / inclusion / exclusion. Currently issues exist in other modules which appear to stem from similar problems and have similar solutions - how to decide on the correct menu to extract page hierarchy from when multiple links exist with the same destination.
- #279767: User counter is output on login page for anonymous users and #295476: admin_menu conflicts with pathauto (?) in Admin Menu. Bug marked wontfix as is an issue with other modules incorrectly accessing the menu; admin_menu is not able to prevent those modules seeing its menu.
- #295177: Use proper menu link loading for node menu links in Token. Unresolved.
- #296534: Link paths are not unique and #595282: Menu weights in Local Menu. Approach used here was to select a primary and secondary menu to scan - effectively a simple form of menu weighting.
- #303247: Menu Breadcrumb setting active menu to undesirable menus in Menu Breadcrumb. That's us! Looks like the fix here will be based on jweowu's work in #595282: Menu weights.
Opening this ticket for consideration, in case #595282: Menu weights turns out to be infectiously good and other modules want in.
