Is there a reason I can't translate "Forums" on this page: http://www.sbbic.org/en/forum
and "Books" on this page: http://www.sbbic.org/en/book

I've tried re-translating using a local install of Drupal 4.7
I even loaded the Danish localization files - and neither of those words can be translated (the words themselves show up in a string search, but they are already translated...).

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,
Nathan

This may be due to the bug that's being discussed/fixed here: http://drupal.org/node/65801

If you can, test one or more of the proposed patches.

Well, for some weird reason the "Forum" text is now translated (I did a .pot export of the da translation for 4.7.0 and converted it to .po and then imported that into my khmer translation)

Since it got fixed for one, I would assume it is my fault and not drupal's - but I will look into that patch and see what happens (I'll try it on a local version first).

Thanks,
Nathan

I applied the patch in #19

But nothing seemed to change. Still can't get Forums or Books (plus a few other terms) to show up translated. I got it to work once, but when I re-did my forums, it is back in English now...

I had the same problem with 'Forums', although there existed a correct translation string in the Localization database. It was probably not the right thing to do, but I found out that this string originated in a (taxonomy?) category name, and I simply changed the name in Administer->Categories to get rid of the problem.

That would work, except I am using two languages on my site (or did you get it to work with two also?).

The only way to get a correct string for each language is to use the existing localization / translation t() function. There seems to be a patch around that does just that, dunno if it already has been incorporated into 4.7.2, I have not tested this yet.

I don't totally understand what you mean...
