Setting the administration theme on admin/settings/admin
does not apply to the IE (very strange)
I am setting the admin theme to my own custom theme of adaptivetheme
with option "Use administration theme for content editing" set
The theme appears on all admin pages and node/edit node/add when using any browser but IE
IE appears to be using the basic layout of adaptivetheme and some specific elements of my custom theme ...
I have tried several times to clear cache of the browser and drupal but still get the same result
any ideas ? anybody else sees the same ?

GiorgosKForgot to mention that IE8 and IE7 appear to behave the same
When I set the admin theme to "default theme" with or without "Use administration theme for content editing" I get the almost the same behaviour with IE. The theme looks more like my custom theme but blocks positions are not correct and width of site not correct

Jeff Burnz CreditAttribution: Jeff Burnz commentedYou'll have to supply a screenshot or something, sounds like IE's 31 stylesheet issue here - try the IE Unlimited CSS module and see it that clears it up - http://drupal.org/project/unlimited_css

GiorgosKGreat catch jeff
did not know about this limitation of IE
on performance I checked the "optimize css files" and it solved the issue
