The Uniform jQuery Plugin provides some sex to forms. Not just buttons, but also a bunch of other form elements too. Think this would be a new module, or be part of Button Style?

Interesting! I'd love to add this as option to button_style.

However, we probably need to open a separate issue to discuss how we could implement support + configuration for different styles in the module. I could even imagine that using multiple styles for different stuff on a site would be interesting for themers. (Side note: I'm also thinking about a style plugin system for admin_menu for quite some time now, still not sure how to implement this properly)
