Servus, folks.

Working through quite some modules I translated a few to German. But I don't have a clue how or where to submit that stuff... I sent the CCK translation to one of the listed authors but haven't heard anything back yet. Some more translations are being tested yet, but once that's done I'd like to contribute them to the various projects. Could you please fill me in?

Translating modules I found quite some stuff which isn't translateable, probably being written to screen by simple print statements. Namely the descriptions of the various radio buttons in CCK seem to be hard-coded, but there are some more. Should I treat this as a bug or a feature? Who should be informed about such a problem?

Thanks for telling me,

Norbert

to submit translations for projects, you have 2 good options:

  1. request a CVS account in the drupal contributions repository. if you say in your motivation that you'll be committing translations, you should be approved. if you have a CVS account, you'll have permissions to commit *.po files directly to any modules, without being granted access by each module maintainer.
  2. you can submit an issue to the relevant issue queue for whatever module(s) you translate. you can attach your translation file (.po) directly to the issue you submit.

in terms of modules that are difficult to translate because they don't properly use t(), in that case, you have to rely on the issue queue, submit patches to each module to properly wrap all output in t(), and hope the maintainer is responsive. ;)

hope that helps,
