My GSoC project is a new generation affiliate module, and since this module appears to be no longer active, it would be great if I could get access to put my code there.

rszrama commentedJust stopping in to say that I'll be mentoring bojanz through the Summer on this. His initial proposal was for a new e-commerce related affiliate module targeting Drupal Commerce, but I recommended he instead broaden his approach to develop a generic Affiliate API that modules could sit on top of to provide specific affiliate interaction for things like DC. I'm pleased to see he took the initiative to already contact you, as I had an e-mail draft ready to send off saying he should start here. : P
Anyways, bojanz is also the developer of the UC Affiliate 2 module for Ubercart that has provided affiliate functionality for most Ubercart users. I trust we'll end up with a good project that serves both generic affiliate needs and e-commerce specific needs, too. : )
With the last commits to this project being 2 years old, I hope the maintainers are willing to pass the torch.
All the best,
-Ryan

bojanz commented2 weeks have passed, no answer from the maintainer, this module can be considered abandoned.
See my original post on your queue for extra information: #787676: The Affiliate module

avpadernoAs reported in the procedure, the report must report the name of the project in the title; this is done to allow the maximum visibility of the report, in the case the maintainer looks at the recent posts.
I am moving back the report to the project queue, and I will send an email to the current maintainer.

bojanz commentedAs I said in my previous issue, I sent him an email and received no response.
He is still active on drupal.org, which makes this even more puzzling.
I hope this doesn't delay the procedure for another 2 weeks, because Summer of Code starts in less than 10 days...

avpadernoI sent the current maintainer a message.

avpadernoI sent another message to the maintainer.

bojanz commentedThank you, kiamlaluno.

avpaderno@bojanz: When the 5 days are passed, and if the maintainer didn't reply in this report, please add a comment here. In this way I will see the issue in my tracker page, and I will take the required actions.

thierry_gd commentedHi,
Have been quite busy, didn't see the emails before.
I am still maintaining the module affiliate, and want it to still be active.
Regards
Thierry

avpaderno@thierry_gd: Does that mean you accept bojanz as co-maintainer?
thierry_gd commentedHi,
do not want any co-maintainer at the moment.

rszrama commentedYour last commit and last comment on an issue were December 28, 2008. I'm not trying to force a co-maintainer or anything like that (we can just as easily do bojanz's Google SoC project with a different project space on d.o), but I do wonder what maintenance you mean you're doing. There are outstanding support / feature requests that have gone unanswered since then, and visibly (not to mean you can't be doing something off of d.o for the module) this module has no plans for future improvement / maintenance on D7 and beyond.
It may be that you have every intention of continuing this project on in the future, but time often doesn't allow us to follow through. bojanz will have a definite amount of time this whole Summer thanks to Google to develop a robust affiliate solution on Drupal 7 under my mentorship, and I strongly recommend you evaluate your availability / 1.5 years' inactivity and pass this work onto him for the near future.
We definitely appreciate your efforts thus far and are not trying to denigrate what you've done to upgrade the module in the past. : )

bojanz commentedMy GSoC plan is sound, I hope we can unite over a common goal.
My co-maintainer for uc_affiliate2 will be following the new module development, so I hope the new affiliate will be a real group effort once GSoC is over.
In any case, thank you everybody for your time.

univate commentedI would also like express my support in bojanz using the 'affiliate' namespace for the work he is doing. Almost 18months with no activity on this project seems fairly inactive to me and appears is in need of a co-maintainer that has the time to devote to building a D7 affiliate system. I'm sure he would welcome any input and feedback in the work he is doing to ensure the end result is a solid affiliate system for everyone.

gfxguru commentedDo you have any updates to this module, plans, features, etc? This is an extremely useful capability if created in the correct way. I hope their is no dependence on any other modules, ubercart, eCommerce. I don't use either of these but would like the capability of relating a new signup or registration to an individual or affiliate to give them credit for the referral, sale, membership, etc.

bojanz commented@gfxguru
The current module home is Affiliate-NG
I've been reworking many things after the recent code and UI reviews, and will commit it in a day or two (I am at DrupalCon so that makes things a bit more difficult), so check back in a few days. It depends on Entity and Views, so that's pretty standard.

streever commentedThierry, now that it has been another year without any commits from you, are you still interested in maintaining it yourself?
In the current format, it isn't particularly useful (lack of cookies and documentation) and seems a bit of a false choice, considering that you don't mention the lack of cookie support on the home page of the module but only in the Read Me.
Are you willing to add cookie support in exchange for money?
Is there anyone else willing to do this?
Please drop me a line if so. I'd like to see it committed if someone adds this functionality, but if Thiery is unwilling to allow any contributions, can use the module privately and not commit back if I must.
Michsk commentedThierry please let them take over this module.
