The dev is stable. We have not created a release because there are a couple features we want to add.

Sorry, if I missed something. Do you have a list so we can eval if/where we can help? Please, update #723410: Create stable 2.0 release for jQuery Update.

I think it is very important to get a stable release of jQuery Update. I maintain a few modules that depend on jQuery 1.3.x, and the lack of a stable release here causes a lot of headaches to the users, a lot of issues that make everyone spend time on the wrong direction, because jQuery 1.2.6 has bugs that will never be fixed I'm afraid.

Look at the usage stats of jQuery Update for 6.x-1.1. There is a lot of sites there that probably do not need jQuery Update, because that release ships the same exact version of jQuery than Drupal core.

Good question. We would like to get #426764: Allow other modules to alter the replacements in. Just need to find the time to do so.
