Update from 6.x-1.1 breaks image cache image [#836356]

I've searched here but could not find this specific problem. I hope I explain all the parts well enough to follow.

I have a page content type that has a CCK Imagefield, which is being manipulated by Imagecache Canvas Actions by adding a background effect. The images displayed fine with the effect with CCK Blocks 6.x-1.1. Now when I update to ver. 6.x-1.3, the image effect is gone. It apparently is removing or losing it's knowledge of Imagecache? Initially the image doesn't display at all, but reading here I learned that you have to now update the display fields for CCK Block which are new I believe in 6.x-1.2. I also have to change the basic setting for the Label to be hidden. Then at least the image displays normally, but it is the basic image, not the one that Actions had added the background to.

I don't think this is an Imagecache or Actions issue, since I can just update the CCK Module to 6.x-1.3, see that the images are broken, and then downgrade it back to 6.x-1.1 and the images come back the way they were.

So just want to report this here and see if anyone else has had this issue.

John, thank's for your very detailed report.

I cannot reproduce the issue at the moment, as I have no site running imace cache applying the actions you mentioned. I'm using cck_blocks 1.3 with image cache on some websites without the canvas action. They are all working as expected.

Could you please check, if you selected the correct image cache profile in the display settings of that specific field? There should be about 5 display options for each image cache preset.

i can confirm this.
since an upgrade from 1.1 to 1.3 i get only the generic display of the image in the cck block.
The options dropdown for Display is not showing up

reverting to 1.1 everything works again
