Hello everyone!
I just finished http://napavalleyvineyards.org a site about napa valley wineries.
This is the first site i've used Drupal with and I am really impressed with Drupal's abilities.

The theme is modified from "Mother Earth" by Darren Hester (http://www.designsbydarren.com/), and i would love any feedback or ideas for improvements since its my first attempt at theming.

great job.
very inviting.
love the leaf image.

I like your use of user badges (I think that's what you're using).
I use them, too.
Something I did, that I think gives it a bit of a cleaner look, is I
added a white, 1-pixel border around the image. Actually, I increased
the canvas size in phtshop (not an html border in code). It puts a
little space between icons. Just something to try in all your spare time.

You might also play around with the expand/collapse bullets.
They're easy to change and (visually) make a big difference.
There are some cool wine-vine-leafy-looking characters in
dingbats (or one of those similar font types) that I'm imagining.
I used them for an old winery project and thought they really worked well.

Lastly, verdana looks good in the body, but as it gets larger and
bolder it gets muddier. Maybe try "Lucida Grande" - a nice sans-serif
alternative. Of course an image-as-title alternative always gives
you the most flexibility with large-point text presentation.

(take what you can use, discard the rest)
cheers

btw: love the map! Did you do that using any of the modules? location, etc?
and how did you get all your data in to the map file? one at a time or
something like an xml file created from excel? I tried a while back and
got frustrated and moved on, but I'd love some tips. thanks

Thanks guys for your replies,

I'll definitely use your improvements.

Mark, i didn't use any modules for the map, instead i have a MySQL database with all of the entries when are accessed with some PHP. Using xml would be pretty easy if you have some javascript knowledge. theres two resources for XML loading: http://www.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/#Using_XML_and_Asynchronou... and http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/basic3.htm .

The biggest tip i have is be careful where you place the map creation javascript. IE has a heartattack if the javascript is within tables and other containers (http://mapki.com/wiki/FAQs#Browser_Problems). If you ever need help you can throw me a PM.
