XML feed for view does not provide theme option for rows?

I am building an XML feed for each of my nodes to output image and audio paths to a flash app. I've added a "feed" display to my view, set it to "xml file" for style, and made sure that "provide as file" was unchecked.

Added my image field paths, and so far so good - when I look at the xml for a node, it's displaying using the default xml / views theming.

I looked for the theme overrides in edit view area, and there is no option for Display Output or Row Style output, meaning I can't form the xml the way I need to, and remove the various default row formatting that includes divs/spans etc. I tried adding the theme override based on the expected name with no effect.

Is this a bug or does XML display in this module not allow you to customize these elements?
