I want to offer ftp export for my clients, but I do not want to store the password in the database. A nice feature would be if there was an option to prompt the user for the password when they export. This way it doesn't get stored anywhere, it just gets entered interactively on each backup. Obviously this wouldn't work for schedule backups and stuff, but it would be a nice security enhancement IMO.

ronan CreditAttribution: ronan commentedThis would also make listing files/downloading etc. impractical (constant password prompts) but it might be something worth pursuing. I've thought about implementing something similar for encryption so you don't have to store your encryption key on the server. I'll put it on the task list but it's not a huge priority so it probably won't get much action unless somebody else feels like picking up the mantle.
Thanks for the suggestion.
