The module works fine with the default body field in nodes, but it does not recognize HTML, all the HTML tags can be seen when doing preview or publishing a node.

Are your CCK fields collapsed? If yes, this is a duplicate of #830012: Editor appears but can't edit or add text if edit page loads with collapsed fields
