To add the banner image in Acquia Slate 6.x-3.0-beta1, you need to install the following modules. Once they are installed, there's a good, quick walk-through of configuring the banner image by Eternalistic, one of the Acquia Slate maintainers.

Here are the additional modules you will need:

  1. jQuery UI (You'll need to download the 3rd party jQuery UI library manually; follow the ReadMe file in the jQuery module directory).
  2. jQuery Update.
  3. Skinr > 6.x-2.x (currently only available as dev).
  4. Dialog API (currently only available as dev).
  5. Chaos tool suite.

Note: the rounded corners on the header and the preface top regions seem to disappear for logged-in users on some pages while Skinr UI is enabled. They seem to reappear when Skinr UI is disabled.

Your link is no longer valid "walk-through of configuring the banner image by Eternalistic". Would you provide another please?

I'm having trouble getting the banner image to show up and was hoping to watch the walk-through but the link is no longer valid. There is no "Frontpage preface sidebar" block region.

I've got "Mission statement" enabled, enabled Fusion Core and Acquia Slate (set as default), enabled Skinr module and installed/enabled all the additional modules:

jQuery UI 6.x-1.4 (also downloaded 3rd party jQuery UI library, renamed and put in appropriate folder)
jQuery Update 6.x-1.1
Skinr 6.x-2.x-dev (2010-Nov-10)
Dialog API 6.x-1.x-dev (2010-Aug-13)
Chaos tool suite 6.x-1.8
Acquia Slate 6.x-3.0-beta1
Fusion 6.x-1.0

Thanks in advance. Any and all help much appreciated!

the video was moved and i've updated the link..

if for some reason it's not working, basically, to get the header to work you need to create a banner rule in Skinr.

/admin/build/skinr/rules - add a new rule and call it banner, then select what pages you want it to appear and select which image you want....
