Are people using the 6.x-1.x-dev version in production? Other than scanning the issues list is there any way to learn what doesn't work in 6.x-1.x-dev vs. the released version?

I am now using the dev version in production, since I needed it to work with PHP 5.3.

I believe the dev version is more stable than the beta release.
