University of Colorado Boulder

This project contains the contrib layer of the Express install profile developed by the University of Colorado Boulder for the Web Express service and used throughout the University of Colorado system.

The Express install profile designed and supported by Developers to allow Site Owners to create great looking websites that meet a university's accessibility, security, and branding policies. Site Owner != Site Builders. Express users are not expected (or allowed) to create content types, fields, or views. While limiting, this approach makes it possible to maintain a large number of Express sites with a relatively small staff.

The projects shared on Drupal.org are the only parts of Express we can support outside of the University of Colorado system, but we have provided our full install profile for reference at https://github.com/CuBoulder/express. Neither of these are designed to be used "out of the box" without additional development and customizations of an organization specific core and hosting specific bundle.

Express only uses 6 roles; Developer, Administrator, Site Owner, Site Editor, Edit Only and Edit My Own. These roles and permissions are defined by Secure Permissions.

Express profile defines just 3 content types; Basic Page, Files, and FAQ. Additional content types are defines by Module Bundles. Profile Module Manager scans a profile's code for modules that are defined as bundles and allows users to enable these without granting them the 'Administer modules' permission.

Express leverages Bean, Express Layouts (will eventually be committed), and Context to manage layouts layouts by page or path.
