Dreamhost ftp access on multisite installation

I'm thinking to change my webhost provider and I'm testing Dreamhost, it look like very nice, many features and service but I need to understand if it support my main need

I have many sites running a Drupal multisite installation so that I need to let my customers access (via ftp) to sites/domain-nameA.com, sites/domain-nameB.net, sites/domain-nameC.org, etc.. so that they're able to manage files/, themes/ and modules/ directories, is this possible with Dreamhost.com? If yes, how? I was looking for this but I hasn't able to find it..

installing Drupal on netfirms: easy step by step instructions

Drupal requires your Netfirms hosting account to support PHP and MySQL. Currently all premium hosting plans on Netfirms support both PHP and MySQL.

A. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL DRUPAL

1. To install Drupal download the latest version from www.drupal.org.
2. Once you have downloaded and extracted the Drupal files, upload them to
your web site using your FTP program.

B. CREATE A MYSQL DATABASE

Before proceeding with the installation, you will need to create a MySQL database:

1. Log into the Members section at Members Control Panel at http://www.netfirms.com/members
2. Click Site Tools
3. Click Database
4. Click Add
5. Enter a Database Description

The following will be created by the system for your database (please write this information down as you will require it at step D18):

Database Name
Database address or hostname will be MYSQLHOST
User Name
Password

C. IMPORT DRUPAL TABLE STRUCTURE

Once your MySQL database is created, import the Drupal table structure into it:

6. From the Netfirms Control Panel, clic Site Tools
7. Click Database
8. Click Admin
9. Click the phpMyAdmin button
10. In phpMyAdmin, click on the database name in the left column.
11. Click the SQL tab
12. Click the Browse button
13. You will then need to navigate to the appropriate directory to find the data: inside your drupal folder is a folder called database. Open that folder, and select the file: database.4.1.mysql

Drupal Multisite Host?

For those of you deploying Drupal in a multisite configuration - what host do you use? I'm looking for a good host that allows symlinks or access to httpd.conf, or will set it up for me, for setting up of virtual hosts so I can point my multisite domains to the document root of my primary Drupal install. Currently I'm doing this by parking domains on top of each other - but the drawback with this approach is that my multisite accounts don't have a separate admin (cpanel) interface.

Need VPS hosting for modest website - any drupal-knowledgeable resellers?

We have a modest sized drupal-based website with no bandwith issues. However, because we need port access for UDP data, we are considering moving from shared hosting to a VPS host.
I've looked about, and the cost of VPS hosts is typically much higher than shared hosting and, perhaps more important, requires a level of technical understanding of server settings, etc. that is otherwise unnecessary for our organization.
I am wondering if there are any organizations, resellers, etc. out there who have a full-featured VPS account and would be interested in reselling to us and providing very limited technical support (basically server configuration).
Offers or suggestions as to where we might go for similar services would be welcome.

By the way, our current host is Site5. Just to add to the collection of drupal-specific hosting reviews, I thought I'd share our experience.

We have been happy with the price and features, but have had considerably more downtime than one should expect. In particular, mysql is vulnerable to problems caused by other accounts on the server. It has been particularly frustrating to have support respond that "it's working now" only to have it go down again 1 hour later, evidently the problem not having been diagnosed and fixed. At this time, I've taken to bugging support about every single instance of downtime just to create a track record.
If it weren't for the issue with needing port access, we'd probably tough it out to avoid all the hassle of moving.

Drupal on ZendBox ...

Hi,

My name is William Luciw and I'm the Director of Product Marketing at Zend.

At our annual Zend PHP Conference 2006 Keynote on Oct 31st, we announced ZendBox™, a hosted and managed dedicated server running the latest PHP 5 technology stack, including Zend Core, Zend Framework and Zend Platform ... all designed and configured to deliver high performance PHP 5 business applications. We intend to provide an open source business solution stack that includes Drupal.

I thought drupal.org would be interested in ZendBox™ since, of course, ZendBox™ runs Drupal incredibly well, and we hope to provide a number of “business stack” Open Source applications preconfigured and installed on the ZendBox™, to get development and deployment going as quickly as possible.

ZendBox itself presents an easy-to-deploy solution for the operation and management of PHP 5 applications as an integrated and certified combination of hardware, operating system, PHP 5 and utilities, backed by support from Zend and Zend's partner network of hosting providers.

In addition, Zend has reached an agreement with Rackspace to be the first provider of managed hosting services for the ZendBox.

Please contact me for more info or simply follow these links for more info:

Adult Drupal website ? What hosting company ?

Hi,

Can you tell me where it's possible to host a Drupal website where I will review sex shop articles, but not sell directly, just give a link to the website where to buy.

It is ok for 1and1 or is it considered as porn?

Do you know any other Drupal and Adult websites friendly hosting company?

Thanks.
