Hi, I am band new to web design and drupal and would love some advice to get my adaptive subtheme setup correctly. After reading Jeff's blog and other related posts on the topic of changing adaptive to full width header/footer background I am still unsure on where I'm going wrong. I'm sure it's just an issue of me not having the basic knowledge yet that is assumed when others have posted on the subject.
I'm running Drupal 7 with Adaptivetheme 7.x-1.0-beta2, basically when I follow Jeffs blog post I'm not clear on where to place the container sections and if or how I need to change the div id's. Even just a screenshot of some else's page.tpl.php file how do wonders for me. The second part of the issue is I am getting a undefined index error for the code added to the template.php file. Appreciate the help, let me know if I can provide more detailed information. I've attached a screenshot of beginning of my page.tpl.php file.

Jeff Burnz commentedHey Lucas, shortly, in a few days, I am going to cut a new release (RC1) and this will include a sample page.tpl.php file especially for 100% width header and footer. I have just built a commercial theme for D7 that has these features so I just need to backport a few things to the core theme. To use it all you will do is replace the normal page.tpl.php with the sample.
I would love to release a stable version and I could, but, I need to wait for Skinr module for Drupal 7 to stabalize its code, right now I don't know when that will be, I very much hope within a month or so, however the AT is very usable right now and is not going to change much bar the Skinr stuff.

lucas_obrien commentedSounds good Jeff, can't thank you enough for the themes and information you've made available. I spent a lot of time into playing around and researching with the more supported themes and AT is perfect for my goals. I think I've worked out where I was going wrong in the page.tpl.php file, again i've attached the first screenshot of my file. If someone could confirm for if it looks remotely correct?
The templete.php file still isn't happy, basically I've just pasted in whats on your blog and get the white screen of death. Played around with the <?php?> tags to get the page to load with the undefined index error on the second line of code.

Jeff Burnz commentedYou're getting errors most likely because AT for Drupal 7 can support this feature without the extra steps required in Drupal 6 version.
This code is from one of our D7 commercial themes, you will see it has gpanels embedded and I have moved some variables around, however you will see the new wrappers and use of the .container class - to use this just replace your page.tpl.php file in your subtheme and AT will do the rest to make it work (no extra steps required), of course you will need some CSS to make it lovely.

lucas_obrien commentedAll makes sense now! Thanks for posting that it was invaluable information to have. Decided to play around with the default startertheme file, ended up with this.
