This release fixes a security vulnerability, all users of Meta tags quick 7.x-2.2 and lower, or any 7.x-2.x-dev snapshot from before 2011-12-14 are urged to upgrade. For more details, see SA-CONTRIB-2011-059.

First and most important - upgrade path from nodewords is working (only for keywords and description).
Multiple issues were addressed:
#1211804: Hide "Edit meta tags" tab if path-based meta tags are disabled
#1215786: "Edit Meta Tags" tab on taxonomy term edit page - thanks to christinawithout for pointing right solution
#1165096: Upgrade path from nodewords (D6) - maxiorel
#1215762: Administer Meta Tags permission
This release was hardly possible without help of maxiorel (who wrote original code for nodewords upgrade) and other people actively discussing open issues: christinawithout, zambrey and others.
Thank you all!

Things that need to be addressed before 2.0 release:
* upgrade path for meta tags other than keywords/description
* intelligent change of path based tags when target path changes (have no clue how to achieve that, actually)

Fresh new feature, as planned for the 2.0 roadmap, is configurable automatic creation of meta tags and linkage to existing entity types.
+Multiple bug fixes.
I hope this is the last alpha version, and next step will be 2.0-beta.

New features (including path-based meta tags) are being added to 2.x branch.

1.x series answer basic needs of meta tags management: keywords and description, and only for pages that are entity displays (nodes, users, taxonomy terms).

Target of 2.x development is extension of module capabilities, in 2 directions.
1. metatags_quick 2.x will support all drupal pages, including aggregate ones like views, panels etc.
2. metatags_quick 2.x will support more head element types, like rel nofollow, noindex and so on
