File style presets are not honored in gallery_detail

I am trying to customize the default file style for "Large" from the normal 800x600 to 1024x768+upscaling. This works so far when viewed in admin/config/media/file-styles/edit/large which was a modification inside admin/config/media/image-styles/edit/large but when viewing a media_gallery image which display format was changed to 'file style: large' in the 'gallery detail' display the image is doesn't resize to specify style. I can confirm this file style works by adding a test content type with file field and then setting the display format to large.
