I was searching to see if anybody had started a module to integrate the Opentok API and allow video streams / chats within a site. I haven't found anything but thought I'd post here in case I missed something, or in case there is an alternative that will do something similar.

The goal is to allow users to connect through the website and then initiate video chats directly in the site (rather than simply exchanging Skype names and taking the conversation elsewhere). I believe it also allows you to set up broadcast video events that stream live and have many participants viewing it.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

I just discovered this service and this seems to be the only post on d.o referring to it. This looks like a worthwhile module for me to work on. Stay tuned...

Thanks, Jose, I'll definitely stayed tuned!

I'm intrested in this for an e-learning site. Do you have any idea when you will dazzle us with a alpha of the module?

Jose,

I just learned of this:

OpenTok looks great. Hopefully it will become more Linux friendly.

I proposed a combination of OpenTok with the new Google+ service:

I would consider the code to be alpha quality. I'll try to make a release sometime this week. In the mean-time, you can pull it with Git.

I will definitely be testing this when I get a chance -- thanks for your work! I will let you know how the testing goes and try to help as I can.
