The outline designer allows admins to add content to books in a fast, effective, and far more usable way then the current "add book page" method provided. Kyle Mathews added a sub-module in outline designer 1.2 which integrates the module with organic groups, allowing group admins to utilize the functionality in his eduglu distribution. I think Open Atrium could benefit greatly from Outline Designer and recommend you consider it to enhance the usability of Notebook.

+1.

We use OA for both internal stuff as well as setting it up for organizations and businesses. Many laymen users have a really hard time understanding the organization of book pages and drag and drop would make this much easier.

This would be a useful addition as books can be difficult to deal with.

+1 for this.

Echoing comment #1, a better UI for book pages would make it much easier for clients to interact with the content.

I will up be releasing version 1.3 today which allows for role based setting of the context menu's items as well as opening up outlining capabilities to non-admin roles.

Cool. Can this be used simply as a contrib module in conjunction with OA? Any caveats or integration issues to be aware of?

Should just plug in unless something's changed. I don't believe eduglu is doing anything special to have it function in a similar manner. There is a sub module to the project that integrates it with organic groups so it should be a drop it in and the functionality "just works"

We also use Outline Designer with Open Atrium and it is a big hit with our users.

Only downside is every change to page order is sent to the recent activity view/feature in OA
