mojzis commentedno sign of a trouble when creating the temp directory ... and then it doesnt exist. drush dl of a standard project works. it must be something in the last code in CVS - i tried it on a different computer first and it worked fine. Then I got new code from CVS and bingo it doesnt work on the second machine neither.

jonhattanWe stopped supporting the download of translataion files recently in favor of l10n_update but it seems we need to put some checks in to stop the process and inform the user.
mojzis commenteduntil now one would usually install the site in the final language (switching later on used to cause trouble) ... hence the dl cs before anything else... so i figured out i probably need l10n_install but it yields the same on download ... so what shall one do for profiles ? thanks :)

Tor Arne Thune commentedI get the same error when trying to dl drupal, using the latest recommended 4.x release. I see the directory is created in /tmp, and it contains drupal-7.0.tar.gz being downloaded (slowly growing in size every time I 'ls -l'), but just before the error, the directory contains two files: drupal-7.0.tar and drupal-7.0.tar.gz, then the directory disappears. So something is deleting it again. Damn gnomes.

Circlefusion1 commentedLast week, I installed the latest drush on a server, downloaded drupal 7 and installed various modules to a new site. This week, on the same server, without making any changes to the server, I tried to repeat the same steps for second site and I got the error:
The sites are in the same directory path:
/www/public_html/sites/site1
/www/public_html/sites/site2
Drush didn't change.
My file permissions didn't change.
Nothing was installed or updated on the server.
This is a bit confusing.

jaymiejones86 commentedJust an update: I seen this is for all version 5.x-dev, but I am experiencing this on 4.2 as well. Must be something related to the D.O changes with git somehow?
jaymiejones86 commentedSetting this issue to major as it is across both the supported 4.2 release as well as the 5.x release and can disrupt general use of drush as well as while using add-ons such as drush make.
I have found that this occurs on both Mac and Linux systems after further testing.
I have tested doing a drush update and this appears to work fine.

flatcircle commentedFYI.
Seems like the same issue as http://drupal.org/node/1078318
Kind regards.

weseze commentedHas this been comitted?
I'm running Drush 4.4 and when I try the command 'drush dl l10n_install' it gives me the error...
All other drush dl commands are working.

msonnabaum commentedAs you can see in #14, I committed this to the 4 branch, and it went into 4.4.
If you're experiencing a different problem, please start a new issue and provide a bit more info about the error you're getting.

dagomar commentedI filed a new bug report, even though the error seems to be exactly the same:
