Hello!
Sid Valley Tree Surgery has just had a re-design so thought I'd post it here. It makes heavy use of Panels and Panels Everywhere, which are the excellent modules developed by merlinofchaos. I love using them and photoshop to put together sites - it means my clients can have designs made just for them without me being a themer.
So your verdict for a site which didnt touch PHP?? Let me know what you think...

Looks well laid out.....
better than the old days of static html hey?
(:
Like the testimonials, by I for one wouldn't like the idea of addresses still showing, (well not at least if it were mine), maybe you could have 'blacked' out the street address or postcode) maybe te punters aren't bothered, still something to bear in mind me thinks, but only my opinion.
Those user 'letter'.jpgs could have been nice using a lightbox, but then you have re-type the content.

Hi Paul,
Thanks - that's probably a good idea to blank out the addresses. I need to do a bit of work on the testimonials section to make it a bit more appealing.
The main focus at the moment is on getting it to perform well in the search engines. It's now fully optimised but I need to put more time into link building. We're climbing up the rankings but I always like to do SEO in a proper way - eg make it easy for bots to crawl, focus on good quality content and try to find a few really useful high quality links - keep it all above board.(We get many emails from shady SEO companies, most without even a proper website!)
I have more than a passing interest in seeing it do well - I used to work for them doing tree surgery and landscaping - I need to get back to doing more out door work...
Many thanks, Joe
PS if anyone has any tips for small business social media please let me know.

You're welcome Joe,
Again a lightbox would be good (I had one for my recording studio http://bit.ly/e12lsA when using D6, it worked well): http://drupal.org/project/brilliant_gallery
which would allow punters to read the real letters (blackened out user addresses mind).

tell me about it, AVOID THEM!!!.... we don't need them (:

Hi Joe,
I think I watched your videos on youtube! Very useful, thanks for taking the time to make them.
Can I ask what base theme you used for that website? I am very interested in the idea of panels everywhere, after all, what's the point of using them just in the $content area with awkward blocks in regions in the header and footer. Seems like a job half done!
Nice looking site btw, I like the testimonials, was a good touch putting in the pictures :)
Thanks.
Sam.
