Based on some of the other issues that I have read and my inability to edit presets via the MediaFront Presets module any longer I believe the developer has altered the code for MediaFront so it now uses CTools to manage presets. Is this true and if so, how is this accomplished?

Well, this has not happened yet. My first task was to just move the code from the now deprecated Preset module into this module, and my next step is to replace that with CTools. So, I would say that this is still a work in progress.
