Hi,
I'm researching the possibility of developing prediction market modules to work with drupal. Check out http://www.hsx.com/ (Hollywood stock exchange) or a couple of these services: http://inkling.com/ and http://consensuspoint.com to see what I mean. I found an oss project, http://zocalo.sourceforge.net/ (java based) but it lacks a couple of key components (market maker for buy/sell balance).
Anyway, this could be a good one for google 2007 summer of code projects or maybe I'll start a reverse bounty.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jim

zocalo's market maker
I'm the author of Zocalo, but new to drupal. Zocalo has an automated market maker. Is there anything else you'd like to know about? Please feel free to send me questions. I'd be happy to help you figure out how to integrate the code into drupal.

There is a betting module, and I've been playing around with it, but a prediction market module would be AWESOME!!!!

Betting module
Where I can find the betting module for Drupal? I've made a search but I can't find it. Could you kindly post the link, please?
Thanks, Mirko

module under way to build a new module
Hello all,
I'm coming to this conversation a little bit late, but have some hopefully good news.
I looked at the system requirements for Zocalo and felt that the set of 3rd party libraries it relies on was too onerous for a typical site admin to be able to easily deploy. So, I've decided to build this as a pure Drupal module.
Related links: Drupal.org project page, Blog about the module/progress, post explaining why I'm releasing this so early when it's not even working yet.
So, input is definitely welcome!

Hi, Any progress in this field please?
Greetings,

definitely
I believe this is "duplicate" of your question in the issue queue: http://drupal.org/node/244885
But for the sake of others, I had forgotten to create a release for the module even though it is very much under development. I believe it is largely working but needs testers to help identify areas that need improvement or are not working.

Testers
greggles,
Please do let us know what we can do to help you test this. Where are you coordinating testing?
http://socialsynergyweb.net/cgi-bin/wiki/HomePage
no testing plan (yet)
Hi SamRose,
There's no real testing plan or coordination yet - just download the module, try installing it, and report any problems you find to the issue queue.
In the next few weeks I hope to have enough time to test it more myself and then post a "hey world, here's some advice on how to test. Please report bugs and give feature ideas".
Thanks.

Hi greggles,
I am sorry not to have been able to test yet. Some things came up which needed my attention.
Now I am on holiday in Spain. When I come back I will start testing. Say the week of 20 may.
